Overflow Robotics runs Tech in Schools (TIS) for students aged 12–17. We take children's privacy seriously: we collect only what we need to teach, keep families informed and run the program — and we never sell it.

Who we are

Overflow Robotics is a student-led engineering entity based in Alexandria, Egypt. We run this website and the TIS portal. For any privacy question or request, email overflowrobotics@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Parents: name, email address, mobile number, and — for from-home programs — a delivery address for the robotics kit.
  • Students: name, a display name of their choice, school grade, email address (for signing in), and their school when they join through a partner school.
  • Learning records: projects submitted (photos, videos, code), engineering notebook entries, quiz answers, attendance, instructor feedback and grades, XP, badges and certificates.
  • Payments: the amount, date, method (e.g. InstaPay or cash) and any reference you give us. We never receive or store card details.
  • Class photos and videos: only of students whose parent has given photo permission (see below).
  • Technical: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form — nobody at Overflow Robotics can see them.

How we use it

  • To run classes and live sessions, review work, give feedback and issue certificates.
  • To deliver kits, confirm payments and contact families about the program.
  • To send emails such as account confirmation, password resets, session reminders, feedback and new projects.
  • To suggest each student's next project. Our system may send anonymous scores and project names (never names or contact details) to an AI service to help with this; an instructor always confirms the choice.
  • To improve TIS — for example, which projects students find too easy or too hard.

Photos and videos of students

We only include a student in class photos and videos shared in the portal's class gallery, on this website or on our social media if their parent has allowed it. Parents choose when they add their child and can change it at any time from their dashboard. If permission isn't given, we keep the student out of shared photos or crop/blur them. To ask us to remove a specific photo, email us.

Who can see what

  • A student's own work, grades and feedback: the student, their linked parents, their cohort's instructor and Overflow Robotics admins.
  • The class gallery: only students in that cohort, their parents and staff.
  • Leaderboards show display names only, and students can hide themselves.
  • A student's public portfolio is off by default and only shared if the student turns it on.
  • Certificates can be checked by anyone who has their verification code.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent personal information. We only share it with services that help us run TIS, and only what they need:

  • Our email provider (Google / Gmail) to send emails.
  • Our website host, which stores the portal's data.
  • Couriers, who receive the kit delivery name, phone and address.
  • Partner schools, which see progress and attendance for their own students in TIS.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep information while a student is taking part in TIS and for up to two years afterwards, so certificates and portfolios keep working and families can return. Certificates' verification records may be kept longer. You can ask us to delete an account and its data sooner at any time.

Your choices and rights

  • See and correct your family's information — most of it is in your dashboard; for anything else, email us.
  • Withdraw photo permission at any time from your dashboard.
  • Ask us for a copy of your child's data, or to delete it.

We handle personal data in line with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020).

Children

TIS is for students aged 12–17. Student accounts are created by a parent, or by TIS at a partner school with the school's agreement. Public sign-up is for parents only. If you think a child has given us information without a parent's knowledge, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy in an important way, we'll tell parents by email. See also our terms of use.
